  November 28, 2023 - Much better than my prior bottle. Only the faintest touch of prune notes on the nose and palate to evidence its end of window period, the wine held together for hours without fading. Plenty of overripe blue fruit along with overripe black fruits. Sweet Oak. Touch of cassis from this bottle as well. Very smooth. 15 to 20 second finish.

  November 16, 2023 - I wasn't really expecting this to be alive, but it was. A touch of stewed blue and black fruits on the nose and a touch of it on the palate, but after 60 minutes of air, the wine was in balance with overripe and slightly jammy blue and black fruits, a touch of vanilla Oak. Very smooth and it holds steady for hours. A bit too overdone and monolithic in many ways for my taste, but still a drinkable wine.

  June 20, 2013 - Intense dark purple color, with ripe aromas and flavors of cherry, blueberry, spice, raspberry, and smoke. Firm yet balanced tannins, in balance with the fruit. Paired well with flavorful meats. The finish was quite long and had decent complexity.
  The cork appeared to be natural and thus avoided the dreaded pre-2004 Behrens artificial cork failure (2003 vintage was bottled with both natural cork and artificial), although I am no expert in corks.

  February 24, 2012 - Deep purple, rich fruit, long finish - lovely wine bothered by a touch too much lingering heat for my palate.
