December 24, 2018 - Been holding this for a long time. Survived 3 moves. This was NOT past it’s prime. Fruit gone but lovely Bordeaux-like secondary flavors like leather and sandalwood. Enjoyable. Decanted and filtered for 3 hours.

June 3, 2016 - past its prime (lost track of it in my cellar before Cellar Tracker :) … no rating.
zero fruit left; very dry, dirt, flavors. still had smooth finish … would have been great 5 years ago

December 28, 2012 - Still my favorite Virginia wine and special to my wife and I given my time there.

Fleshy blend with very nice mouth feel, but a flavor profile that fades quickly. Soft and approachable, but needs to breath a bit. Cherries and tar with a bit of a tannic overtone.

June 12, 2011 - Deep dark cherry red. Nose of black currant and rich dark red berries. Cherry and ripe plum flavors with black currant and soft Asian spices. Finishes with nicely rounded tannin well balanced with acidity. Showing very well in it's 9th year.

November 22, 2009 - A very deep plummy color. Very soft tannins from the dominant Merlot in the blend. Anise, licorice, tobo, plum and a touch of cherry; it all goes down so easy. This is in a very good place just now. No sediment at all. 13.5% alc., IIRC. With grilled venison loin at the Dortons. Highly Recommended
