Community Tasting Notes 6

October 12, 2016 - Light gold color. Gorgeous aromatics of seashells, honeysuckle, cucumber water with richer notes of almond, dried pineapple. Creamy texture but not too waxy — lively acidity keeps it rather balanced. A nice salty kick (like sea salt and dried almonds) but with honeycomb, lemon curd, apricot jam. Some pineapple and baked apple but the fruit is quite nuanced and not overwhelming — tons of minerals and crushed rocks — lovely stuff. For those of you looking for some freshness and minerality in your Roussanne, and less the tropical explosion, you should check this out. Incredibly depth, balance, minerality, plenty of fruit, too, but this is a complex and nearly profound wine. One of the most balanced American Roussanne’s I’ve tasted.

March 22, 2016 - White flowers, stone fruits, nuts. Medium bodied. This is nice; but probably starting to decline.

April 19, 2014 - Floral nose in the mouth. Apricot up front, nice acidity really sets it apart from usual New World Rhone-style white.

February 2, 2014 - Really outstanding wine. Notes of fresh cut flowers, stone fruits, honeysuckle and wax on the nose. Very mineral driven, adding sweet pears and lemon rind across the palate. Drinking really well - I continue to be really impressed with Jesse's wines... Look them up if you haven't had the opportunity.

November 9, 2013 - From the second night. Interesting wine, drinking very well. The nose evolved nicely across the evening - from yeasty notes up front to peach, apricot, pineapple... really a pleasure to just sit back and smell. Similar stone fruit notes ran across the palate, with overripe apples, lemon pulp and a light peppery finish. Great wine.
