January 22, 2024 - 14.5% alcohol; Saranty Imports, White Plains, New York; Alfio Moriconi Selection; garnet, brown, even a touch of gray under weaker lighting; a real 50 mm ubercork with a maximum wine penetration of 8 mm, cork aroma of bananas; medium to heavy weight foil; opened, oxygenation hastened via Vinturi, tasted at room temperature, 24 degrees C, in a wine glass designed by Luigi Bormioli for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot; nose of newly dry-cleaned rugs covered with a dry, peppery grass; medium body, diluted cherries, diluted cranberries, a little rhubarb thrown in, minerals in the front of the tongue, some sweetness towards the back reminiscent of butterscotch, a bit of dry bark, maybe oak; components fit reasonably well together; medium to long finish with dryness and minerality, and some bitterness; pair with chorizo, pasta, ciabatta; the 17-year cellaring hasn't been good for this wine -- it is sloping downhill but still drinkable

    July 31, 2023 - Similar to the 6/9/22 bottle.

June 11, 2023 - Deep garnet, almost translucent but with slight haze. Dominant dried cranberries and herbs aroma with background cherry. Slight licorice and fresh cut grass. Nice balance of fine tannins, acidity and alcohol. Red plums, cranberries followed by dried leather and hint of dried herbs. Supple, medium bodied with slightly sweet palate. Good for lightly grilled or braised chicken or veal with herbs.

June 9, 2022 - Happily, this bottle was much fresher and more complex and longer on the palate than the 10/23/21 bottle.

October 23, 2021 - Medium garnet color. Aromas of red plums, cranberries, dried fruits and leather. Medium bodied mature fruit in the mouth with good depth and length and a touch of oxidation. Somewhat thin and dried out on the palate. Disappointing but drinkable.
