February 18, 2024 - Opened 30 minutes before drinking. Shared with a good friend with a marvelous Filet reverse seared and baked potato.
Original impression strong notes of cherry dominated. After some minutes in the glass smoothed out and became very balanced. Definitely time to drink.

December 29, 2021 - Lovely ripe nose, but a lifted almost VA effect on the acidity which collides with a bit of green on the aftertaste. Given that this is a 2000 still a good wine, but I honestly had hoped for better. Of course given the year it was 1/3 the price, but at almost $100 it goes a bit wanting. After an hour the aftertaste gets even more bitter, I'd not decant.

November 23, 2021 - Massive wine. Really lovely with far more finesse than I was expecting but the tannins are yet to fully integrate and I expect it will be at its best in another 5 to 10 years.

November 5, 2021 - Good amount of sediment. Crimson red color with some bricking. Red cherry fruit, dried orange peel and spicy notes on the nose. A whiff of vanilla and bit of alcohol lingering. Medium weight on the palate backed by opulent fruit, searing acidity that keeps it fresh and minerality that keeps it interesting. Not tiring at all and keeps me coming back. I'm glad opening this now and makes me feel hungry!

The wine is full of elegance, depth and delicious factor. Superb!

June 13, 2020 - Softer and more refined than the 2002 which I have reviewed recently, the 2000 needs to be consumed now. As usual, needs to be decanted at least 3 hours before consumption. It has the most beautiful velvet glove but wrapped in it, a most intense depth and power. Perfectly balanced for such a high alcohol wine. Big personality but yet so supple, elegant and very fleet footed. A superb wine. I gave the 02 an extra point as it had more depth and complexity, but we are playing a marginal game here.
