April 11, 2019 - I'm sure there are good bottles out there, but this one was dead.

December 24, 2017 - Opened the last two bottles with lamb roast. First bottle was superb! Proves once again the world class capability of Napa Valley. The cork appeared almost brand new. Similar to a classic Bordeaux, but with the extra fruit of California. The cork on the second bottle was completely saturated and had some mold on the top of the cork under the foil. This bottle initially had some mustiness that I see from time to time in older bottles. Fortunately, the mustiness blew off on swirling the glass revealing a wine virtually as fine as the first bottle. At forty years of age, the wine was vibrantly red in color with a small hint of browning at the edge. Having tasted the wine about 30 years earlier with tenderloin of moose, the evolution of the wine was especially interesting. It was dark red and very bold at that earlier point in time.

July 16, 2017 - Good base neck fill, cork extracted in one piece. Fire red brick appearance. Deep cherry, earth, sous bois, and dried red fruit bouquet is tertiary but gains cherry intensity as it develops in the glass. The palate is driven by tremendous tension, underlying minerality, juicy acidity, and a smooth texture. Fully resolved, with ample cherry fruit that segues into a spicy salinity on the back end. The fruit lingers beautifully on the long finish.
