Community Tasting Notes 5

January 8, 2019 - Something off with the bottle - some sharp vinegary tones that shouldn't be there.

  • JimmyBubbles Does not like this wine:

August 6, 2015 - Botella mala o el vino ya cayendo. Creo que más bien lo segundo.

Algo de reducción de caldo de carne, muy mineral pero muy calido y alcoholico.

Taninos pulidos y acidez comedida pero el vino no termina de decir nada. Solo restos de lo que fue.

December 26, 2014 - I would have said this was a gamay in a blind tasting. Lots of strawberry, cherry, licorice, menthol, clove. Light, low tannins and acid. good balance, medium finish. I see the analogy when people call this Burgundian... A pleasant drink, but seems overpriced to me.

May 21, 2013 - To understand this wine, I suggest reading a blog post I wrote about a visit to this vineyard. You can find it at:

    http://drawingimpressions.blogspot.com/2012/06/bernabeleva-great-winery-near-madrid.html

Juan Diez-Bulnes and his cohorts in the Sierra de Gredos region are turning Spanish wine making on its head. They are making lighter, "Burgandian" red wines, rather than the big, heavy, coarse wines that most people expect from central Spain.

Vina Bonita is Bernabeleva's richest and most refined red wine. While it would never pass as a Pinot Noir, it's easy to see what's "Burgandian" about it - the nose, the color, the weight in the glass. The alcohol level is a dizzying 15.5%, yet this isn't a "hot" wine. I recommend it if you're bored with "go for it" massive, jammy, tannic wines, and want something well-knit, sophisticated and subtle. Quite a surprise from Madrid!

February 5, 2013 - One of the best bottles of Garnacha I’ve had a in a long while. Great balance with bright red fruit leading to a fresh and lively finish. Will love to see how this wine evolves.
