January 5, 2017 - This wine just keeps giving! Must seek out more. A great wine solo or with spicy foods. Nose has string earthy farm scents that keep on in the glass for an hour or more.

October 31, 2016 - This wine is on the far end of its peak, but fantastic funky earthy horse ranch smells, abundant sediment means careful pours and the nose means 10-20 minutes just diving into the nose! Dark red fruits... not just the cherry, sucking the meat off of and the marrow out of the pit of a fantastic cherry. Totally blind could be mistaken for a cherry coffee cherry? Tannins are well structured, not beastly (just the way I like them) and the experience is dry enough to tease your hair up like it was the 80s and you're a white guy with an afro (don't ask). A well worn leather plush hand made leather chair in the office of the manifestation of the monopoly "Top Hat" character overlooking the coast from a dark leather walled room. Fantastic with my asian spicy wings!

August 20, 2016 - This wine really delivers really good quality for the money. Medium ruby with a lot of garnet hues. The nose is clean, with ripe red fruit (raspberry, strawberry), black fruit (cherry, plum), dried herbs, and some earthiness and a touch of sweet baking spices. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose, with medium (+) acidity and tannins and high alcohol at 14%. Medium (+) body, flavor intensity and length. This wine is in a great place right now and should continue to drink well for several years. It is drinking very well even a week after being opened. I am really starting to come around to liking Tempranillo.

June 17, 2014 - (a little extra) Time has been good to this, and it's in a perfect place right now. Acids are evenly matched to the fruit at this point, with the (integrated) oak and sweet tannins adding to the experience. A sweet core of red fruit and leather dominate. But it's not just leather, it's leather like five different ways - new, old, polished, club chair, favorite coat - it's a bit of a fun ride, actually. For just $17, this was very pleasant with food (i.e. abundant acids), yet I could see this on its own, too (not something I do often, anymore). Medium-bodied, somewhat round, a touch linear, but not flabby or jammy; good perfumes. recommended, 14,0% abv, drink thru 2017
Aerated to decanter 1 hour, served non-blind. Cracking good with grilled/herbed pork tenderloin.3 people found this helpful Comment -

March 1, 2013 - Dense concentrated and typical of many modern Rioja. A bit sweet and extracted and lacks sophistication. Not entirely charmless but a little clunky but decent for the price.
