September 19, 2021 - Smooth, just enough tannins, a really great wine that aged well

December 14, 2020 - Clear deep ruby colour, no sign of garnet
This was part of a collection given to me by a relative when their medication precludes them drinking alcohol. I don't know how it was stored prior but the cork was quite dry (my Coravin pushed the cork out partway then went into the bottle while trying to use corkscrew- dry and shrunk)
High alcohol on the palate (bottle says 13.9% so close) med + acidity, med + tannins, med + body. Tannins are fairly soft, still lots of black currant on the palate , toasted oak, baking spices medium -med + finish
I am not tasting much tertiary flavours beyond tobacco , I don't expect this wine to improve but it was a nice surprise after seeing estimate to DRINK BY 2011

March 17, 2020 - Obviously well past the date if should have been enjoyed but it has been moving around with me for years. Cork required surgery. Strained it into the decanter which opened the wine up nicely. Enjoyed it with stuffed peppers and chicken soup. Nothing remarkable here - I am sure that this was a great wine ten years ago.
The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is quite a bit of sediment in the bottle. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

November 23, 2019 - Fully mature and in great shape. Tanins fully resolved and silken texture. Fruit remains and delicious. I wish recent Napa wines were made in this style.

    April 8, 2018 - tasted blind
    nose - floral, asian spice
mouth - delicious, harmonious, complex red and dark fruits, with a little dried fig thrown in. surprised to see it unveiled as such...
