March 23, 2014 - Thin and candied licorice nose at open. But my oh my, did this gain weight after 30 min decant…. Alluring perfume of sweet cocoa, and fresh tobacco filled the glass from start to finish. This wine reminds me of young Pessac Leongan wines, and their scorched earth profiles.
Giant extract, but very pure and clean and easy drinking, as the tannins are exactly in the right places, vs. last year at the winery, when the wine was much, much, firmer. This is aging fast.
Buckets of black fruit, chocolate, and a rich, sweet tobacco finish make this wine a very nice bottle to drink over the next 1 or 2 years. But I would not wait….
