August 8, 2015 - Annual Wine Group Summer Event - BBQ Brisket at Siggy's (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Tasting pour. I liked this quite a bit. The nose has nice citrus fruit, lime, citrus, plenty of herbal freshness, celery, pepper. The palate translates the nose nicely adding in very distinct minerality. Quite bright and a bit racy. 90+ to 91pts.

June 11, 2015 - Medium lemon color. I opened this outside, and even so you can smell it as soon as it hits the glass. Citrus fruit aromas of lemon and lime alongside green apple, floral notes of fresh spring blooms, peppery spice, flinty mineral, and a savory-sweet grain-like undertone something like what you get from Belgian hops. Pretty much all of the same flavors carry over to the palate, which is medium bodied and loose-knit in a good way. Like linen clothing in warm weather. Good breadth and texture, enough acid to balance the body but not particularly tart. Long, resonant finish of chalky mineral and riper, somewhat tropical fruit. Very good.

July 5, 2013 - Yellowish green; coaxed the nose with extended swirling and warming, overwhelming reductive quality at first, floral, geranium, lime, bitter almond; mineral and citrus with white pepper on the finish which said GV, also some pastry appeared on the lingering finish; fairly bland that needs some more bottle age to gain complexity, recommend serving warmer.

2012 Austrian Catalog, 6/1/2012 (link)(Nikolaihof Grüner Veltliner "Hefeabzug") ($26.00) CORE-LIST WINE. I made an afternoon visit this year, coming straight from Ott. I sat on the side of the table this year, to stay out of the hot sun, and enjoyed the new perspective. This was the first wine. How would their 2011s be? It was relatively loose-knit by Nikolaihof standards, and so it showed its leesiness more — Hefeabzug means “sur lie” — but it’s splendidly salty and oystery, dynamic and snappy and long. +
