April 17, 2017 - In a good place. Smooth, dark fruit, some earth/grilled meat, integrating medium tannins and medium+ acid. Should continue to drink well through at least its 10th birthday.

    January 4, 2016 - Uninspired, with a short finish.

July 25, 2015 - Served at the end of the night. Dark and ripe fruit with a hint of smoked meat and some nice oak treatment. Finishes a bit short but otherwise an enjoyable syrah.

    August 29, 2014 - Flawed. Darn.

(Kaella Syrah Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain) Lightly aromatic with cherry, carob, whiffs of cracked pepper, iron, spice, and mineral notes. The palate is medium bodied, full of cherry flavors, fine grained tannins, and a citrusy finish. A delicious wine that needs to good day to fully get going. 97% Syrah, 3% Viognier. Aged 20 months in French oak (0% new). 14.2% alcohol. 75 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
