September 25, 2012 - Sure this is the first Malbec I've tasted from Chile. Has that tell tale Chilean smokey, wet bark, tree root, and black tea aroma, that in a minor way continues on through the finish. Nice dark, deep purple color. Some evergreen with those Chilean aromas and blackberry on the nose. Rich, solid core of black and red fruit across the palate. Only moderate mid palate, but respectable by some Malbec standards. Cute little tannins. Appropriate use of a little new oak. Not all that big in the mouth feel department. Toward the finish there are a few of those hard to describe secondary flavors. The fruit falls off with the finish, leaving things somewhat hollow.
