November 20, 2023 - Lunch with Mathilde (Tanglin Club Churchill Room): 100% Chardonnay, 30% barrels, no malo, 3.5g/l, min 36 months on lees, 3300 bottles, tirage 05/19, disgorged 01/22, base 2017. Aroma of brioche, slight oxidative notes, pronounced lemon and grapefruit, med acid, med finish. Well made champagne.

April 25, 2023 - October 2021 disgorgement from three plots of Chardonnay with 3.45 grams of dosage. It also saw 30% of the wine done in wood, perhaps one of the plots was isolated to wood--not sure. Opened yesterday, finishing today. Didn't seal this very well because I went to pour it tonight and not even a hint of CO2.....it had went still! This bottle is much like the previous wine, with a decent amount of acidity but more approachable with the air it has seen. A mix of pear and green apple, with a little kiss of apricot. Juicy with a little spicy kick in the finish, probably akin to what I called anise in my note from the previous bottle. Enjoyed it.

December 20, 2022 - Just bought another two bottles, this batch is the October 2021 disgorgement. 3.5 grams of dosage, 100% Chard, blend of three plots. For those curious, the plots are Brocots (above the village, borders the forest at the top of the hill), Montmedy (which is down near the plain, below the village), and Alouettes (think west of the village, going towards Verzy, mid and upper slope). I appreciate Margaine for placing so much good information on their back label, as between using Weinlage-info.de and Google Maps, it's easy to see all of these plots in really crisp images from the air and the ground. As to the wine, this grew on me. It became more complex with air, a mix of bitter citrus peel, anise and pear. I wanted to call it savory but it's not so much that as it has a cool complexity. Nothing really sticks out--no high acid or dominant fruit, but instead more even in a citrusy kind of expression. I left the bottle remnants with the wait staff so this is all I can offer on the wine, but I do think air did this a lot of good so apply some and be patient once you open it.

October 14, 2022 - Volnay theme: Brought this as an aperitif. Fresh pastry dough, green apples, good acidity. Slightly coarse bubbles similar to the entry-level that I tried a couple of weeks ago. Nice, but not quite memorable.

September 9, 2022 - TM Mazoyeres vs Charmes Dinner. Champagne pair for first course.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Fine bubbles.
Nose medium intensity, with aromas of autolytic bready yeast, citrus lemon-lime. Developing.
On the palate, dry, good sharp high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of piercing pure citrus lemon-lime, green lime, green apple, sweet spritz. Long fierce acid finish.
Very good quality. Nice. Dosage 3.5g/l. Disgorged 01/22.
