Community Tasting Notes 11

December 5, 2023 - Tenuta @ Intercontinental, Singapore. Takes a good 30 minutes to open up. Not so evolved. Tar, roses, quite powerful. Could pass for a Piemonte wine.

August 11, 2022 - good nebbiolo, well aged but less complex than expected and lacking nuances and spices I was looking for. The first sips and the best, but then taste fades away. Too expensive in my opionion. In a fresh afternoon at La Thuile after a challenging bike ride to Piccolo San Bernardo and La Rosiere

August 29, 2020 - Meticulously-made 100% late harvest mountain Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca). Med ruby, with a garnet hue. Clean, intense, fragrant nose of wild strawberries, ripe red cherry, black plum, red flowers, forest floor, balsamic spice and sweet oak spice from 24 mos. in tonneaux. Dry (only 1 g/L of RS) but more fruit-forward and more approachable than would be expected in a high altitude Nebbiolo. Very balanced structure, with med (+) acid, tannins and alcohol (14.0%). Very smooth, elegant, with impressive intensity and length. Drinking really nicely at 15 years, but likely to show well for at least another 5. A stunning wine.

December 9, 2018 - This bottle showed very well. Ripe (almost sweet) compelling cherry with fainter notes of strawberry in the background. My bottle did not develop any raisin notes or balsamic notes until day 3, so I suspect DIGGYDAN had an off bottle. As usual with Nebbiolo, their are some ripe and dried fruit notes on the palate but the wine tasted more fresh and youthful. The body was medium weight and elegant. It’s too bad that Barolo, and Barbaresco producers can’t hold their wine back like this and release them with this level of balance.
