Community Tasting Notes 6

April 24, 2023 - Pretty classic Pommard, with plenty of stuffing. The half-bottle was wound up upon opening and in retrospect I wish I had given it a decant and some more air time. Aromatic profile was reticent, especially initially. On the palate, this was also pretty tight although it opened over time to reveal some wild herbaceousness. This had no problem holding up to a very rich kurobuta pork roast.

January 22, 2023 - 92/93. Fantastisk med alder på. Vil tro dette er toppen. Der er ingen tvivl om, at Boillot både kan hvid og rød! Klassisk noter af moden jordbær og skovbund. Fantastisk

December 12, 2020 - 2 1/2 years since I last tried this and a lot has come together in that time. Nose had very noticeable smoky and mineral quality alongside slight pepper and blackberry scents. Taste had robust dark cherry, light spice, quite a bit of tannin and a framing vegetal edge. The gaps in the taste were filled in nicely this time. Many years still ahead of it.
Score: 93. Relative to expectations: ++

May 1, 2018 - Ending up liking this a lot more at the end than the beginning. Pnp - pronounced cherry sweetness up front, nice stems, charred wood, hint of clove. But a weird taste profile with odd gaps in the palate at first. A lot of these filled in over an hour. Then it closed up a little again. Give it a few more years to settle down. Overall a fair amount of power, good balance, more straight over the middle in terms of attack.

November 21, 2016 - Good Pommard, needs time (think 5+ years). But the raw materials seem to be there and this could surprise to the upside...
