Community Tasting Notes 10

October 31, 2017 - This is drinking well now although still very tannic. There's a note of aguardiente on the nose which is a little odd, and with air somehow the fruit dries out and the tannins become more aggressive. Good but not sure the fruit will outlive the tannin.

February 13, 2017 - Very nice wine. Not as opaque as I expected it to be, in fact, the colour has already started to tone down. The rim was a reddish purple.
On the nose not as tight as I thought it would be. red fruit, cherries and tobacco, wood too.
On the palate it showed the notes of a wine in maturity. Fruit, yet not in abundance, and the tannins were absent. A lovely wine nevertheless, but I would not keep the 2009 much longer.
We had it with venison stew and new potatoes. The softness and the sweetness of the game in its sauce (with a dash of Madeira) complimented the wine very well.
If I'd have another 2009, I would drink it within 12 months.
This wine would be lovely in its own, but would be more enjoyable in my mind with some food; any stew would do I think.

March 6, 2015 - Quite a bit of tannin with some acidic notes. Finish is super dry with light cherry notes. Enjoyable but somewhat too dry for my taste buds.

September 28, 2014 - Consistent with previous notes, a standout. Aged partially in Cherry casks and those flavors come through beautifully. Terrific texture and weight. Highly appealing and very well made.

1 - 5 of 10 More notes
