January 24, 2014 - Lovely wine Still has bright colour. Black and red fruits, silken tannins and the fruit and oak are in total balance. Quality wine in a good vintage, but amazing considering the average quality of a lot of '03's from SA. Good for a few more years yet.

March 28, 2013 - Need about 1-1.5 hours of decanting. Quite aromatic with licorice note. Nose fully developed after decanting. Even more licorice on the palate with wet rocks and gravel notes. It is a very good wine, well structured with full body. But the dominating licorice makes this wine out of balance. Medium herbal finish at the end. On the second day, after slow-o, the remaining bottle remained very good, if you are ok with licorice.

February 5, 2013 - Absolutely stunning wine that is nearing/or at, it's peak. The nose was beautiful and the palate even better. Full of black fruit, chocolate and just a touch of sweet oak. The high alcohol was not even detectable in any way and the tannins were just so soft. The balance was just impeccable. One of our favourite wineries and along with the Cornerstone Grenache, my favourite wine they make and the best wine I've had this year so far. I really didn't want to share it with anybody else at the table! I really enjoy good Barossa Cabernet and think that it is really underrated.

    April 10, 2012 - Non-blind. Decanted 1hr and slow-o 20 hrs.
Dark red. Fruit driven bouquet w/clear cs typicity, Oz spiciness, extract and some vegetal note I fail to define.
In the mouth it is a darling. Fully full bodied, great acids, med coarse mouth-dressing tannins, sun dried notes and everythng from the nose. No jamminess!
Like a great cricket team lacking one great batsman. Wife slightly stingy with 91p.

January 6, 2008 - Decanted 1 hr. Big wine, plenty of oak but there is enough fruit to carry it. Quite elegant despite 15.5% alcohol, although there was some heat (but this did not detract too much from the wine). Personally, I think many of the GC Cabernets are built for the long haul and this one's no exception. 90pts now with some upside as the wine approaches its peak drinking window around 2014.
