November 26, 2019 - Had no expectation for this one the moment I saw it, but it delivered. Nothing crazy, but it delivered nonetheless. Pale ruby in the glass. Great aromatics, not yet faded nor fully developed - some sweet red fruit, dried mushroom, dried cranberry, licorice. Light-bodied with soft tannins and medium acidity. Medium finish as well. Just plucked this off its peak. Wouldn't wait too long, drink by mid-2020.

May 25, 2017 - BM dinner. Quite tired, sherry notes despite good source.

October 7, 2016 - Another great showing of this wine. It smells of root vegetables, rose petals, spice and ripe strawberries along with the black earth they were grown in. The palate is fresh full and sweet with good minerally detail and excellent intensity. It is lacy and ethereal and really fans out on the finish.

September 21, 2016 - Apart from a damaged label this was the perfect bottle. It started off with some coffee, meat and musk to the aroma. It breathed up and had a gorgeous perfume of rose petals, decaying leaves, root vegetables and mineral. In the mouth it was silky and voluminous yet there was plenty of underlying muscle. There was vinous sweetness and a little brown sugar that you see in a lot of '85's now. The finish was laden with earth and length was outstanding.

October 24, 2014 - I approached this with minimal expectations given all the warnings I've received about Vogue in the 80s but it really surprised on the upside. Outshone the 90 Dujac CdR at first but as the Vogue tapered off the Dujac continued to build. For me this had the charm of the 85 vintage with lovely balance and elegance. Lacked a bit of power and length to be truly great. In a wonderful place right now and based on this bottle I would be drinking these sooner rather than later. One of the few Vogues that impressed after many disappointments!
