Community Tasting Notes 11

October 28, 2014 - Continues to be one of the most fascinating red wines I can remember drinking. Just oozes intense flavors, mulberry, pomegranate, terrific savory notes, brilliant acidity, some slightly chewy tannins (expected at this young age). Just fabulous. I'd love to know what this is going to become in a decade, but am afraid to let mine get out of the fantastic youthful stage.

October 5, 2014 - Very dark and jammy. The finish was bone dry. We had it in the decanter for four hours, which was perfect. This amount of time really let the bouquet open up and allowed the front end flavors to soften. We had this wine with dry aged steak and it couldn't have been a more perfect a pairing!

March 19, 2014 - A little thin and disappointing for my Syrah taste. Well made, though.

January 29, 2014 - Wow, what a nose, a unique dark fruit compote, which carries over to the palate of beautifully dark, brambly dark berry fruit, wonderful acidity, and a flavor profile which must be unique to this grape and terroir combination (since there is very little, if any, in California, not much of a track record). Some moderate tannins make this a candidate for aging a few years, and if it follows the path of its LM Syrah cousin, should age well for a decade and more. Really interesting, delicious wine... couple hours more air, and this is even more structured, mouthwatering acidity to balance the beautiful intensity and fascinating flavors. Can't wait to see what this turns into in a few years, and to follow the vineyard as it gains some age.

November 8, 2013 - Opaque crimson color with aromas of grapefruit, boysenberry and pine needles. Tannins are firm, but sweet, supporting flavors of ripe red fruit, boysenberry, dark fruit and citrus- tart acidity. Becomes less citrusy as it sits, developing dark fruit, spice, vanilla and a gamy quality. Guessed WA Syrah.
