March 26, 2024 - Tasted blind. Nose was unmistakably Piemontese. Rose, lifted acidity, sour cherries. A little out of balance with the fruit subsiding. Not dead by any means, but starting to show tertiary notes. Drink up.

April 9, 2020 - Birthday wine (corona-sytle) with Donato's YBTC delivery. Very traditionally-styled Barolo. I have found CF often runs up the middle between traditional and modern, but this one skews classic. Masculine, mineral-driven, high acid, stewed fruits, gobs of tar, cocoa, mushroom dust. Rather bitter. EtOH hot on the finish. I am biased having spent some time at the property (with their amazing family) a number of years ago, so hard to be completely objective. It is evident that this is a lovely and well made wine, but this one likely would have been better a decade ago. I have more of the '96 Sori Ginestra and will probably drink up next time an occasion presents itself.

October 28, 2017 - I decided to open this based on Antonio Galloni's recent note where he said we should drink up. PnP. Based on his note, I think he may have had an off bottle. This one has plenty of tannins, and acids. Muted nose. For sure you can taste the oak here as you get some drying tannins on the finish. Color is pretty dark for a 21 yo Barolo. Not my favorite style of Barolo, but it isn't bad. After an hour of air this is pretty lively. Well stored bottles should go another 5-10 years. This is much better on Day 2. More together and nicely integrated. 93

October 27, 2017 - This showed really, really well and serves to dispel the notion that modernist Barolo can't develop nuance and sophistication with age. Lovely black cherry, licorice, tar with some light vanilla from the French oak. Great density, structure and length on the palate. Slow-oxed for ~6 hours before dinner.
