April 2, 2024 - Tobacco, liquorice, strawberry, spice. Full bodied, ripe, sweet berry syrup unfurls in the mouth. A pleasure to drink. Tannins well integrated. Enormous length. Excellent.

March 18, 2023 - Drank in Vail last week. Going from memory of this lovely Barolo. Fairly dark in color, particularly for an aged barolo. Nose of leather, coffee & earth. Medium body, still plenty of black fruit, with solid acidic core, and silky tannins. Notes of coffee, leather, earth and perhaps some truffles. Very complex and well-balanced wine, still showing extremely well. Very enjoyable.

February 10, 2018 - Still a deep dark colour, some sign of brick at the rim.
Snappy bright fragrance, sour cherry, plums, roses and dark spices.
Fleshy, long and smooth, finishing crisply, with fine firm tannins.
Dark fruits, black cherry, blood plums, mulberry. Amazingly after 20 years this is still fruit driven and showing secondary spice and earthy notes as a nuance rather than dominant feature. The dark spices are refined, pepper, tar, graphite, melded with funky earth. Impressive Barolo. This will go a lot longer.

June 13, 2017 - White burgundy & Barolo/Barberesco (La Trompette, London): Blind. Dark, dense. Savoury. Very Barolo on the nose. Dense and fore square. Somewhat lacking in elegance. Not brutal but a little brutish, albeit with a workmanlike smile. Maybe fuller and more modern than most of the previous wines, but the balance is there and in many ways it's easier to drink. Once one gets past the exterior, there's quite a lot here. ****

May 17, 2017 - 20th Anniversary at La Croix. Wine was absolutely perfect except it disappeared far too quickly. Stock up if can find more.
