April 12, 2021 - Pronounced nose of smoked meat, gaining complexity with air, adding herbal and provençale olive. Chewy on the entry, with a bright midpalate leaning toward the red fruit end of the spectrum, accented by some floral notes. Tannins are a bit dry on the finish. Almost seems closer to a St Joseph or Cornas than Cote Rotie, as this is a smokey, meaty, rugged wine, though it has a floral/orchard fruit edge to it.

September 12, 2019 - Three Wines From Three Continents (Private Event): Double decanted around 7am and taken to a tasting. Light to medium garnet color. Very fragrant and spicy nose that is also floral and minerally, nights include pepper, mint, red cherry and a little light sweet perfume (like your grandmother might wear?). Palate has good acidity and moderate tannin and has rather savory fruit, most notably red cherry, black pepper. menthol and mint. The finish is interesting as it adds a milk chocolate element. Yummy and fresh with good complexity.

August 18, 2019 - PnP impressions: Medium to dark ruby. Wonderful nose that jumps out of the glass - very floral in a purple tone, and also red fruited with a dry earthiness and a dash of pepper, with that latter component becoming more prominent with just a little time in the glass. Medium to full body. Palate is a little tight and quite tannic - some peppery notes come out along with tart blueberry. Will decant and re-visit in 3-4 hours.

After the decant the nose has roasted tomato and more pepper. The tannins have softened and it feels like it's lost a little bit of body. This presented a really interesting dichotomy pre and post decant. Though there was a bit of a wall of tannin to get through, I really liked it on the PnP. Post-decant, it was merely good, and somewhat shut down. And similar to the only other Barruol Cote Rotie I've had, I will say the nose (beautiful expression of Northern Rhone) out-shined the palate.

July 8, 2018 - Strong, tarry black olive nose which translates to the palate. Very pure clean syrah with no perceptible wood embellishments. Good acid, not fruity.
I find the structure a bit loose and plan on drinking these sooner than later in addition to the fact that I like them as they are right now.

December 30, 2017 - Brilliant medium garnet. Nose has tobacco, smoke, black fruit and some spice. Nice bright elegant mouth feel. Modest tannin and medium acidity. Palate has burnt toast, tobacco, coffee, spice and black cherry syrup. Finish is quite long and layered. Seems somewhat caught between the old world and new world in style. Better in a few years in a good cellar.
