June 10, 2015 - This is a surprisingly tasty wine. We decanted for an hour and at first sip it seemed tight. But after swirling and letting sit for a few minutes it started opening up. Tasting the end of it now, 2 1/2 hours after opening and after discovering it went fabulously with barbecued ribs, the wine is full of luscious flavors, starting with plum, blackberry and other dark berries, and pine in the long finish. This has a rich mouth feel. All in all a pleasant surprise, sorry we didn't buy more of this. Though we do have one bottle of the 2011, it might be worth tasting soon to see if we can buy more of that vintage.

May 9, 2014 - Deep, glass-clinging red purple in the glass; bear black with dark magenta highlights in a drinking pour. Big, bosomy nose of cobblered blueberries and blackstrap molasses. Brooding yet fruit-forward palate and greying dark berries and some ash supported by medium, velvety tannins. This is a treat. Not too serious, but not frivolous at all. Enjoy on its own or with charred barbecue meats by 2017.

January 6, 2014 - Wow, can you believe I bought this big, Gran Reserva at a U.S. Naval Base for $9? It blew me away because the flavors are so round and pronounced. I love the dark chocolate, ripe raspberry and plum with a pinch of pine and spearmint, vanilla oak. This is more sophisticated than I expected and it really covers the tongue nicely. I am drinking it with no food and it is delicious. I can see this going really well with grilled meat or Italian food. It tastes better than a lot of other more expensive wines that I have tried in the past. I am very pleased. I'm getting some more. Cheers!
