June 20, 2023 - Deep yellow color. In the bouquet yellow fruits, some licorice, tangerine and grapefruit. On the palate juicy pineapple, mango, lime and other citrus, a bit fat, good acidity and a touch of bitterness in the finish.

April 12, 2023 - Monthly Tasting Group HWS: VDP Grosses Gewachs (By BS): The bouquet is a bit reticent, but shows minerals, grapefruit and some petrol. On the palate candy, grapefruit, beautiful and juicy acidity, dry but also a pleasant touch of sweetness.

July 17, 2021 - 10 years after Riesling tasting - 2011 (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Not a GG, due to the rather high residual sugar. Hence #1 in the tasting. Round, soft, good mineral core. Drinks nicely now, but certainly not as good and precise as future vintages. Today only 90-91

March 26, 2017 - Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
Drunk over 2 days. Popped and poured. Unfortunately I could not resist to wait 5 years after my first bottle…
Clear, youthful pale lemon-golden color. Clean, medium intense, very pure and precise, youthful-developing nose: Ripe yellow stone fruit, some exotic and citrus fruits, freshness, some wet stone and honey notes mixed with herbs. Lovely.
This wine is certainly not dry (“feinherb”, mixture between dry and off-dry), but I really like that. Very fine structured, medium acidity, medium body and lots of extract. Medium+ intense flavors of gooseberry, grapefruit, peach, bitterness of orange zests and everything highlighted by slate and some saltiness. Nothing loud and broad here, very precise and focused, very elegant and multi-layered, creamy, silky mouthfeel. Wonderful length and depth. Has certainly potential for further development of 5-10years.

December 11, 2016 - Jugendliche Apfel- und Zitrusnoten, herbe Kräuter, mineralische Beiklänge; am Gaumen schöner Schmelz, gute, komplexe Mischung aus Frucht, salziger Mineralik und Kräutern. Langer Abgang. Hat viele Jahre vor sich!
