Community Tasting Notes 7

June 22, 2018 - My last and best bottle of three from Michael Alberty at the dearly missed Storyteller. Bright and tart, sour red fruits, minerals, and a nice hint of funk. This bottle seemed to evolve with being open a few hours, picked up some weight and smoothed out a bit, but not that I needed either of those.

December 3, 2015 - CA Trousseau Fest (AP Milwaukee): Popped and poured, pronounced brett...or wait, is that reduction? Both?? Quite the funky nose, with bouillon, decaying leaves, cherry fruits and a touch of reduction. Although the palate quickly confirms brett, it's not overpowering for those who can handle it and (for some at least) even quite tasty, with rural flavors of barnyard and hay nicely interspersed with spicy cherry fruits and minerals. Very nice.

August 23, 2014 - Great alternative to burgundy. Lighter. This Jura wine ( the same region that makes those savory vin jaune whites) is a great food wine.

May 31, 2014 - Smokey, with a sweet and sour cherry, and candied fruit character, then on the palate a medicinal purity, sour and sweet fruit charm, and then a very strong mineral aftertaste.

September 1, 2013 - Peppery, with plums and rotting meat (or at least a light leatheriness) on the nose. Taste is somewhat brighter, with a cherry hard candy and strawberry flavors added to the mix. Finish / aftertaste is not as clean as I would like. Light body. High acidity that's felt as a warm sensation in the back of the throat in the finish. Solid but not worth revisiting.
