  January 6, 2020 - Bought at a auction on a lark and it was shockingly drinkable after 17 yrs in the bottle. Rich chocolate, tannins and a bit of smoke and maybe some vanilla...generally just full bodied and pleasant. Opened up nicely after about a half hour and some aeration and held its flavor the next 6 hrs. A fair amount of sediment, but not a lot given the age. Color is starting to brown, but not strongly. Definitely as complex as many 17 yr old wines but a pleasant, rich and drinkable wine. Not bad for a grocery store wine that should have been drunk 10 yrs ago. Pared very nicely with a steak and chocolate. I have 3 more bottles and am tempted to see how long I can let them go and have them be drinkable.
