May 26, 2023 - Smooth, short decant. David Phinney wine, approachable as usual. Mellowing nicely.

August 2, 2015 - quick 30 min glass decant and this wine was rocking. Rich, full bodied wine that shows exceptionally well with rib eye steak. Surprised to read a previous reviewer state the fruit was muted. After 4 hours the wine still delivered with power and finesse

December 27, 2014 - Decanted for three hours prior to pairing with filet mignon and king crab legs. Tannins were still strong but he fruit had faded a bit. The wine was enjoyable and well balanced, but the fruit was somewhat lacking. Overall everyone liked it, but the consensus was that it was missing something.

May 27, 2014 - Decanted 3 hours. This is a big, rich wine, loaded with dark fruit and mocha flavors, supported by firm tannins. The wine was really at it's peak when paired with a rib eye - the flavors combined to turn an enjoyable wine into a divine experience. Definitely will make sure to drink my remaining bottles with a similar food pairing.

April 5, 2013 - Decanted for about 4 hours. Very dark on the color, almost purple. Nose "normal" in strength. But when drinking it was power from first second and then on ever after. This is a sheer power wine with full on attack. Taste of cassis and alcohol. It is well balanced but still quite strong in alcohol and tannins. What it lacks in minearlity or similar vielles vignes taste it makes up for plentifold by its shear raw attitude.
