October 7, 2019 - Beautiful mature Bordeaux with nice depth and soft tannins.

September 20, 2019 - Elegant, refined, fresh, pure and precise, the wine pops right from the initial sniff and sip. The freshness in the juicy sweet, ripe, earthy red fruits, with their cocoa accent hits the spot. And the long, polished, refined, silky, red berry finish just doesn't want to quit. While you can pop a cork now, I'd wait at least 3-5 years for the wine to fill out and really shine!

September 6, 2019 - At STK, PnP, drank over an hour.

Rich garnet color, no signs of age. Expressive nose right our of the gate showing creme de cassis, dried flowers, violets, slight graphite. Very ripe palate showing black cherry, chocolate, pencil, very slight green notes, cedar. Smooth texture, long and layered finish. Tannins still ripe and chewy

Gorgeous wine still in a primary phase. Super ripe, will improve as tannins resolve. Great showing for 09 vintage, likely goes for 20+ years from here...score goes higher in time 93+

August 8, 2019 - This was wound pretty tight and backward right now. A lot of umami and mushroom and some fruit, but not very generous. Decanting and breathing was not very helpful either. Will wait several years before I touch another one.

July 20, 2019 - Similar to prior note after a 1 hr double decant, but beginning to be a little more Bordeaux with green notes beginning to appear (at this point I could go either way blind - Bordeaux, CA); delicious, drink or hold

(Château Branaire-Ducru (St Julien)) Highly perfumed black fruits here, full of blackcurrants and rose petals, a nose suggestive of a bright, crystalline intensity of fruit. Aromatically an impressive wine, and quite distinctive within the context of the vintage, at this tasting at least. This comes through on the palate too, which shows a perfumed layer first of all, then a more solid frame, which isn't quite as well filled out by the fruit character as I hoped. On returning to it though it does show an admirable weight of fruit with a defined texture, gritty and tangible, which leads into a more tannic finish. This has delightful appeal, and could well be brilliant.

(Chateau Branaire-Ducru St Julien) This wine has a lovely concentration on inspection, with a vibrant cherry red. The nose has a cherry aroma, with a confit edge to it, but certainly very rich and pure in terms of fruit definition. The palate is lovely in terms of fruit definition, with good grip around the edges, Fresh acids, rather soft but building tannins with the usual rich and velvety feel of the vintage. Supple and quite juicy fruit, and a sappy finish. Really good character here, and plenty of potential.
