Community Tasting Notes 3

June 18, 2021 - Online Blind Tasting: Cabernet Franc plus some Pirates: *** tasting note based on 0,1l bottle. Half of the bottle tasted completely blind on day one, other half tasted two days later ***
    Glass: Zalto Universal
Clear, deep ruby-garnet color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Sweet amarena cherry, some caramel, ripe red fruit. Opulent and airy.
Dry, medium+/high acidity. High, silky tannin. High 14,6% abv that makes the wine a bit hot if drunk above 13-14 degrees Celsius. Medium+ body, muscular, but not fat.
On the palate again very concentrated dark cherry and ripe red fruit, green pepper, some lactic notes, very mineral. Complex and concentrated, a bit “made”. Creamy, velvet texture, very deep and dense. Long finish with lots of fine cherries. Compared to the top Loire CabFranc it felt a bit like the late Mike Tyson against the young Muhammad Ali. If you drink it at 11-12 degrees Celsius it is certainly a serious new world CabFranc, but with a bad PQR. 92-93

February 8, 2019 - Really good, smooth and round, medium complexity and medium lenght. Excellent "easy drinking".

January 6, 2013 - I'm giving this a 93. We opened the bottle at 1, decanted at 3:30, poured in glasses at 4:30 and sat down to dinner with a tenderloin roast at 5. Beautiful. It could be slightly tighter. I know that is nit-picking, but I really thought it could be stronger on the tannins. It's balanced and beautiful otherwise.
