July 25, 2021 - Simply splendid at 21 years since vintage. Vibrant red color. Dark fruited, aromatic nose, blackberries, cherries. Still intense fruit but with genuine elegance. Blackberries, blueberries, cherries, anise. Fine tannins, perfectly poised acidity, great balance. Finishes long, dark fruited and spicy. This could continue to develop for another 3 to 5 years and drink well long after that. Food brings out the cherry notes. 14.8% ABV but no heat at all. The bottle indicates 100% Syrah but I’ve been told there is a small portion of Mourvèdre blended in.

September 1, 2019 - The first Saxum! Still going strong at 19 years old, While my palate has diverged from Saxum over the years they are still incredibly well made wines by a great guy who I hope continues to have great success. I had a couple bottles buried of this and as I was reorganizing the cellar figured I should drink one. I was pleasantly surprised that this was holding together so well.

August 21, 2019 - more intense and less faded than the previous bottle
rhone varietals with fading but still present earthy backbone
    time to drink up

July 13, 2019 - cork dried and broke off so decanted
still some life and heart with well integrated tannins and fading but elegant fruit
    time to drink up

June 19, 2016 - Good, but a bit unbalanced and lacks pure fruit. Either not a great vintage for this, or past its prime. B&J's
