Community Tasting Notes 7

December 10, 2023 - meaty and savory, dried cherries and tobacco, a little something rosey, but this doesn't have the lift of great Piemonte nebbiolo, definitely mature, but could go for a few more years

January 27, 2023 - PnP, consumed over 2 hours. Appearance: Clear, pale garnet - could easily be mistaken for a 2009 Barolo. Nose: Clean, medium- intensity dominated by aromas charcoal and smoke with hints of cherry and spice - aromas are noticeably more expressive 2 hours in. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, medium+ tannin - resolved but there, medium body, 13.5% abv, medium intensity with flavors of cherry, pomegranate, and spice with a medium- finish.

Overall I must say this wine is better than my WSET technical analysis would indicate. It shows exceptional balance but not so great in complexity, intensity, and length. However, there are no flaws in the wine making process here, the wine simply tastes good and appears to be improving over the tasting window. Considering this is Virginia Nebbiolo, which is hardly ever palatable outside the Piedmont, - there is something special about this. Yes, it is somewhat muted, but at its core it is unmistakably Nebbiolo. Can drink now or over next 3-5 years.

October 4, 2014 - Really, really impressed. Tar, petrol, cedar, moist dirt (very rich dirt, black rich soil). Solid acidity and lots of mushrooms on the nose. It isn't a Barolo or Barbaresco, but it is still an amazing wine.

September 6, 2013 - Solid for a wine at this price point. Very unique and Italian qualities but the ripeness of New World fruit. Decently made. Exotic and funky. Unique.
