Community Tasting Notes 9

July 16, 2022 - Consistent with most recent tasting last year, only this has improved and is likely at peak. Still full, round, juicy, and earthy, bringing deep blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, mint, pipe tobacco, and herbs, only the oak has manifested into more caramel, cedar, and cherry cobbler notes on the finish. Drink over the next few years: 2022-2024. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

March 7, 2022 - Tasted this with 2012 Beringer Reserve with which it shares an oak-derived sweetness. Also drank 2010 Napa Valley Reserve super classy and so well balanced and the knock-out of the show.

February 7, 2021 - A big change and a big improvement from our last tasting almost three years ago. Did not need a decant. Floral nose with deep blackcurrant and baking spices. The palate is full, round, juicy, and earthy, bringing deep blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, mint, pipe tobacco, and herbs. The finish is refined and supple. Seems like it’s finally in a window - almost too soft at times - so drink 2021-2024. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 91.

May 29, 2020 - Very bitter on opening. After two hours becomes drinkable. More time probably will not help as I see the tannins outlasting the fruit. Drink asap.
