February 18, 2016 - Stunning stuff. Took a good 2 hour decant for this wine to really show its stuff. Beautiful fruit after it opened up and this wine kept giving. Just as good on night 2.

May 11, 2015 - I have finally learned my lesson regarding Italian wines. Don't drink them. This wine was purchased from the vintner at a wine dinner and he characterized 2006 was supposed to be one of Italy's better years. So I thought I would give Italy one more shot. But alas, another disappointing experience. This particular bottle had a reticent nose, light bodied (seemed watered back), acidic with a lack of tannic balance. Three of my favorite varietals: cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese. But this palate believes the geography and farming techniques make a substantial difference. I can't imagine a California winery even attempting to hawk a wine of this quality at this price. Talk about tarnishing a reputation.
