September 12, 2014 - Priorat, Montsant and Rioja; 9/5/2014-9/18/2014: From 75cl, P+P in a restaurant in Bilbao. Despite its old-fashioned label design this is definitely a modern-style Rioja with barely any perceptible oak. The squeaky texture and generous red fruit initially like a Beaujolais, but after an hour in the glass it had arrived as a modest, refreshing, crowd-pleasing Rioja Crianza. 87P

April 24, 2014 - Touring Northern Spain; 4/17/2014-4/26/2014: (At a tapas bar in San Sebastian) A rather bland Rioja at a not terribly interesting intersection of the traditionally oaky style and the modernly fruity one. Not bad though.
