Community Tasting Notes 4

November 16, 2015 - I didn't have high expectations after reading the mediocre reviews for this wine, so I really wasn't disappointed. It has a deep inky black purple color, and a nose of damp earth, funk, and scant fruit. This wine tastes earthy and mushroomy with muted fruit, mostly plums, olive juice, and green pepper. It's just tastes boring and one dimensional. Overall, it is medium bodied with a moderate finish.

March 22, 2013 - S&E Wine Club - Italian Blind Wine Tasting (Our House): A very distinctive bouquet - mushrooms with wet, clean wood and bark. Moderately heavy tannins and a "Super Tuscan" for me.

March 22, 2013 - Blind Italian Reds at the Ballingtons' (Great Falls, VA): tasted blind. This was widely liked by the group for its earthy funk. I thought it might have been mildly corked, but the group was convinced otherwise - just a very earthy/funky wine. I got relatively little fruit from this but I did detect a bit of oak peeking through the funk. NR.
