Community Tasting Notes 5

April 9, 2020 - Still vibrant and quite worth drinking, had this a few years ago and found more in the cellar. Perfect cork, 1/4 inch below cork, capsule sound. Had two other orphans to open if this was so-so. Not needed at all, delightful wine. Still very much like it was in 2017.

August 21, 2017 - Found several bottles in the cellar in the bottom. Brown sugar, bacon fat, sour cherries, lovely nose. Tons of acid and very pleasing. Great acidity still, quite vibrant.

March 12, 2014 - This moved from the winery to my cellar in 1990 and has been hiding in the racks since. No ullage, the wine was 1/4 inch below cork so I had to taste it. Used an ah-so and the cork was perfect. The wine has aged but the color was more red than tawny, the nose was all about Pinot not brown sugar or any oxidation. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Wished it had surfaced a few years earlier but it was better than a lot of 2012-3 under $12 pinots I have had lately.

March 23, 1991 - Tasting of 11 Pinot Noirs, hosted by Joe. Featured a slightly older pinot nose, lots of rich but simple fruit to taste, long finish. My #6.

January 17, 1991 - ANOTHER FINE PINOT NOIR FROM MONDAVI. NOT AS COMPLEX AS SOME OF THE RESERVES PREVIOUSLY TASTED BUT STILL A NICELY BALANCE PLEASANT WINE WITH FRUITY FLAVORS AND A MEDIUM FINISH.
