September 1, 2017 - Would suggest a 2-3 hour decant to cut some of the cherries off of it. Had better efforts from Sojourn. I feel in some way that they over-manipulated it rather than taking what flavors the soil provides.

April 14, 2017 - Dark color, garnet; pronounced and characteristic varietal aroma, berries and sweet oak. Full-bodied, especially compared to the lighter and more Burgundian Walter Hansel, our favorite U.S. pinot. Very nicely balanced, tannin in the background. One of their best pinots, fully mature, but should last a few more years.

March 21, 2017 - Medium light ruby red. Sweet red fruit and earthy nose with the touch of barnyard. Sweet red cherry fruit but not cloying. Rich red fruits counterbalanced by ample spiciness and acidity. Approachable but interesting; drinking well now with several good years still ahead of it.

January 14, 2017 - Popped and poured. Followed over 5 hours. Bought upon release and stored professional. My first bottle. My experience did not improve with aeration.

I found this wine to be cloying with sweet caramel, vanilla, and oozy viscous dark cherry and root beer cola. Tannins were pillowy and for all practical purposes, absent. I longed for structure and acid. It is obviously a well crafted wine, perhaps too crafted. Not my style. I have enjoyed his sonoma coast bottlings much more.

December 5, 2016 - When I read that the 2014 was #35 on the Wine Spectator Top 100, I decided to pop my 2011 with dinner. It's been over 3 years since my last bottle. This is a dark color wine. Very un-pinoish looking. There were no tannins present. It was rich, somewhat chewy, smooth, and ready to go at pop n pour. I'm glad that I tasted this rather than wait. Some taste of berries. I've always said that I love Sojourn wines with some age, and this bottle continued to prove the point. On Day 2, there was no improvement. The wine tasted as good as it did on pop n pour on the first day!

Sojourn was the first list that I signed up for. I've been drinking Gaps every vintage since 2007. This is an impressive wine. Craig, congrats on the 2014.
