Community Tasting Notes 5

June 14, 2022 - Did a pop and pour. While I used an aerating corker, the bottle could have used a better decant and filter. Still, it was an excellent wine to ahve with eftover steak. And some chocolate mousse cake.

February 3, 2021 - Very smooth PS - ready so drink up. Dark cola and a hint of vanilla.

February 3, 2015 - Give it a long decant. Initial tannins mellow over a couple days and it is much better.

January 14, 2014 - On pop and pour, I wasn't impressed. The nose was musty and the flavor had a strong sour layer. After decanting for an hour, the mustiness was gone and the nose was full of red fruits. The flavor of fruit came through and the sour notes had faded, although not completely. I think I may have pegged this as a zinfandel on a pop and pour if I'd had it blind.

March 22, 2013 - Earthy dark fruit nose. Huge berry and attack of young tannins swell as the fuit lingers. 2nd day mellowed the tannins and brought out more structure.
