April 29, 2016 - Rich and nuanced, this wine has progressed nicely from my last tasting three years ago. Opaque ruby, full-bodied and effusive of cassis, plum, baking spices and pipe tobacco, it is simply a joy to drink. When served at 60-65° F, there is no heat from its reported 15.1% alcohol. Freshly acidic and with ample sweet tannins, it gains traction in the middle and closes long. This concentrated Cabernet exhibits beautiful purity of fruit as well as impressive structure. It should provide pleasure for another decade or more. Drink now-2025.

February 21, 2014 - Saturated very dark red violet color; aromatic, baked berry, black currant, coffee nose; coffee, baked black fruit palate; needs 1 year; medium-plus finish (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Griffin Vineyard; 15.1% alcohol; 20 months in 75% new French oak; pH 3.79) 90+ points

May 27, 2013 - Very good California Cab. Noce nose. Complex flavor. Well balanced tanins

April 23, 2013 - Although very young, this 2009 is a full bodied, big red Cabernet with a bold first taste and a lengthy finish. Decant it for a couple of hours before drinking and serve it at 60 - 65 degrees and you can enjoy it even now. Celler it for at least a few years and it will be even better. Truly, one of the best of the Napa Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon.
