October 8, 2017 - Popped and poured. This is a very dark, almost black, wine, one that stains the entire mouth and tongue. There is some modest sediment at the end of the bottle. On the nose, I get black olive, blackberry, and coffee. In the mouth, this is thick and heavy on the mouth, with potent black fruits throughout. This all carries through to a long and saturated finish, one with a slightly sweet hint. Overall, I really don't know what to say here. This is an extremely black wine that is reminiscent of Satan's soul. It is like a PS. It's an acquired flavor to be sure, but fans of the style will love this. 91 points.

January 30, 2016 - Lot of classic aspects of a great Syrah. Still young and dominated by tannins. Give this another 2-3 years to balance. Really good now, but gonna be great. Love the long finish.

July 4, 2015 - Dark purple. Beautiful nose. Huge wine with lots of dark fruit, blueberry, black raspberry and terrific supporting tannins. This has become much more drinkable compared to the taste I had upon release. Did share with friends over July 4th cookout. Terrific Syrah! Held up to spicy and challenging foods. I am surprised that Andy Ericson's Syrahs and Grenaches have not received more acclaim!

March 30, 2014 - Dark red almost black; mellow ripe dark berries, some vanilla; somewhat lean attack, quite some tannins, reasonable body and depth, quite some power, but appearing a bit unharmonious currently

March 9, 2014 - A rich nose featuring dark blue and black fruits with a hint of vanilla and spice. Strong lingering fruits on the palate with great texture and well integrated tannins. Very smooth!

Favia continues to impress with each and every wine and vintage. One of the best kept secrets in California wine!
