Community Tasting Notes 7

September 1, 2018 - The fruit here has receded. Still some dark cherry fruit to the palate, but also some bitter notes and tobacco. Probably better to drink remaining bottles sooner rather than later. At Caffé Italia in Albany, NY.

September 26, 2015 - Pretty good Brunello. In line with my past Scopetone experiences, which is that this producer stradles the line between ripe, forward fruit, yet is not exceedingly modern and is still true to Brunello (at least, the Brunello that I like). In the case of this '07, the palate shows vibrant red fruits inclusive of Sangio cherry and some raspberry throw in, along with notes of Tuscan earth, nice underlying Sangio acidity but lacking, at least currently, in old world notes of tobacco and dried herbs that one would find in, say, neighboring Pertimali which is also on the Montosoli hill, and also lacks that Brunello "ruggedness". And yet, it's not "modern" apart from the ripeness of the fruit. Perhaps more complexities will emerge with more cellar time. Enjoyable, but I'm not compelled to add more to the cellar.

October 15, 2014 - Wines and Kebobs: outclassed tonight - which may make this note a bit unfair. The nose was of ripe fruit, with floral notes. over time it developed more zing but still lacked that iron/meat component. The mid is ripe with red berries dominating. Raspberry comes to the fore. good acidity in the mid but the finish is a touch short. Good though sadly unexciting wine tonight.

November 1, 2013 - Really nice smooth and enjoyable Brunello, more finesse than power.

October 3, 2013 - Really nice laid back smooth brunello that taste like brunello...
