February 14, 2024 - This Boudots is an extraordinary wine that rewards patience and indulgence. Allowed it two hours of slow oxidation in the bottle, and was treated to an enchanting experience. Its bouquet bursts with intense red fruits, creating a symphony of flavors. On the palate, it displays a robust and textured character, defying any expectations of a weaker vintage. This wine embodies longevity, promising at least two decades of enjoyment, yet it is already a delightful and enticing choice for immediate consumption.

February 24, 2023 - Montreal dinner with PE, ZJ and JE Lee. Very floral and delicate NSG. Very vosne in both aromatics and palate. No Jayer pedigree with this plot, but a lovely bottle none the less. Beautiful and drinking well young like many 11s. In a great spot.

December 20, 2021 - Drank 90-150 minutes after decanting (and probably needs a lot more time airing as it improved over the drinking period). The color is a deep garnet. The aromas are somewhat attenuated, but have raspberry, cherry, and notes of clove. The palate, like the nose, is subtle, and has cranberry, cherry, with a primary of mineral and limestone. There is a nice level of acid and medium+ tannins with a faint bitter aftertaste on the finish. Medium body. ABV 13.0%.

For the first tasting (above) I decanted half the bottle using a Coravin. I finished it off tonight (1/11/2022) with about the same amount of airing. This tasting the wine seemed more fragrant and smoother, without the noted aftertaste. I will also revise the recommendation to air it longer and say perhaps to drink it within 2+ hours of decanting. The bottle did have some small amount of sediment, so decanting is advised.

May 3, 2021 - Milton's Birthday (Chao Shan): Good. A touch too young though. The nose was very much Meo, with a good dose of spice, earth and some savoury meatiness floating around a core of dark plums and berries, maybe a touch of minty menthol. The palate carried on the same tone. Slightly modern, slightly extracted, but very smooth and polished, with velvet tannins and rather bright acidity for a 2011 undergirding fresh flavours of dark plums and berries. Past the midpalate, this leaned out slightly, trailing away into a decent enough finish touched with spice and some stony mineral notes. A marriage of Vosne and NSG, this was very much the archetypical Meo Boudots. It does need time though - another decade I think. This was certainly better on day 2, with the leftover opening up and showing more sweetness and transparency.

October 16, 2020 - Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru aux Boudots Dinner (Formento's - Chicago IL): Served alongside the 2013, which was slightly superior. This also showed its typical Vosne spice character with overall very good balance and good enough weight. If served blind, I would have thought from 2008. Last few ounces in bottle were finished the next night, at which point the fuit was getting tired and some bitter hints emerged. Best now through the next 5-8 years.
