  February 20, 2010 - I found this wine very entertaining. At first sniff, I couldn't help but imagine myself at the bar at my favorite sushi place - a mix of fresh fish, soy, unfiltered sake and the funk of aging refrigeration. Unmistakable, savory umami palate and a velvety spice that takes it clear through the finish like white bean soup or red pepper hummus. 91, +2 as a conversation piece.

Bizarre nose of tamari, rubber, seaweed, sushi, iodine, and an interesting green streak like the Cab was underripe. On the palate pepper, spice, broth, umami richness. Not a lot of fruit but not flawed. Medium-light body, some structure but not the sturdy spine I expected. Might need more than 30 minutes out of the bottle to come together...78-93 points.
