Community Tasting Notes 15

May 18, 2013 - Past it's prime. Bad raisins and swill...

Update: had an extra bottle that I gave to a friend who shared the spent one with me. We were going to punk his son, but that backfired. He and his son said the other bottle was drinking very well and nothing like the first one. Oh well...

January 6, 2013 - This was superb! So glad that I waited so long to drink it - everyone commented that the aroma from the wine was enough to satisfy them. I had a few sips - have to say it drank far better than the 87.2 that the community has scored here. Fantastic!

September 16, 2012 - Drank with a great meal of bone-in ribeye on the grill. Still a deep red in color and light on the nose. The fruit is long gone replaced by a wood and forest floor aroma but it is pleasant albeit very light. The taste is light as well, pleasant but not bold. It still was able to stand up well to the grilled steak. My daughter and wife who like lighter wines loved it. So the rating is probably higher than I would have normally given. Perhaps past peak so I am glad I selected this from the cellar before it was too late to enjoy.

December 23, 2011 - flavors of dark fruit and graphite unremarkable and uninteresting.

June 28, 2010 - Not what I had remembered it to be. Still shows typical "Montelena" values, but has lost some inherent Cab Franc traits. Fruit is almost non existent, but there is still some body n structure. Lots o pepper. Maybe I have become too used to Pride and Trespass Cab Franc.
