July 15, 2022 - from Christie's ex-château auction May 27, 2011. I thought this might have been un petit bouchonée... Still fragrant with cedar notes, but I think the cork taint faded a little with time. Very clear, dark ruby color... just looking beautiful. About two hours later this was still OK, but not better. A little downhill now, showing some amber at the rim. Just a tad disappointed.

February 8, 2008 - Great Older Wines at the Place to Drink Great Older Wines; 2/8/2008-2/9/2008 (Tampa FL): Red fruit and earth on nose with cedar and dried herbs. Some red and black fruit were still also lingering around on the palate, with interesting pepper and herbs. Leaner than the 1942 in the next glass, but this tasted more "real" to me. It is obviously hard to evaluate this wine and the 1942 in the next glass. With war raging throughout France, Europe and the world, they are historical time capsules and also historical oddities. But I guess wine goes on, as life goes on, even without the materials to produce the best wine possible.

February 8, 2008 - LdC does Mecca - Friday Night (Tampa): Full red pink crimson color. Medium soft nose of red fruit with a hint of green. Nice black fruit remaining, but a bit thinner than the 42. Others had the opposite view of these two wines.

May 19, 1987 - First wine in this amazing series with a pale color. Turning brown. Rank, almost fishy, nose. Dry and tight. Lacks fruit. Drinkable with respect for age and vintage conditions that year. Amazing they made any wine at all in Vichy France.
