Community Tasting Notes 11

May 18, 2019 - Took several hours in the decanter to show well. Good blackberry nose with red/black fruit on the palate which lengthened appreciably with time. I also got the "slatey" taste which I have read about but not before encountered. This wine might have "Taffy" associations?!? lol Not your modern fruit driven Crozes, more a semi-intellectual and serious wine that none the less was highly enjoyable. This was my first Cosme Crozes, normally I buy their upmarket Gigondas. This was impressive and cheap at £15 bottle. This was a wine that benefited from time in the cellar, I do not normally keep Crozes for 8 years, maybe a lesson for many of us!??! My opinion is that this Crozes is terrific now, it may get a bit better but if you have some, throat a bottle and decide yourself. I have 2 more bottles and will drink them before the end of the year.

July 29, 2016 - Maybe to warm = 17C but felt very much sense of alcohol and heavy with no dimensions. A dissapointment

March 20, 2016 - Decanted for 1-2 hours, which neutralised some heavy alcohol, unfortunately also fainted the tannins a bit to much.

Delicious tasting, but a disappointingly short finish.

September 11, 2015 - Very nice wine. Drank with minimal air time from a glass tumbler in hotel room. Definitely hit the spot.

July 26, 2015 - Mmmm...French-roast coffee, blackberry, and black raspberry, along with a hint of mediciny phenols. I have experienced quite a bit of bottle-variation with this one (seems to happen a lot with Rhones!). This one is fresh and juicy; it doesn't taste as if it's been in the bottle for 3 1/2 years....more like 3 1/2 weeks.

Edit: with additional air, lavender, lilac and grapefruit flavors emerge. Good stuff.
