August 28, 2019 - As before this was simple and easy-going, more of a drinking wine than a food wine. However it went well with teriyaki-marinaded salmon, which needs the fruit and ripeness. It seemed younger, more tannic and even a touch bitter. It perhaps lacked a little intensity and complexity but a very good match for this wine. I would have said time to drink up but after this dish, maybe another couple of years is fine. It’s not going to improve though.

March 22, 2018 - Stored at Wine Society until a few days ago, so perfect conditions. Tried first blind against a Seresin Momo 2011, same vintage, variety and appellation. Again the Momo: "softer, sweeter nose. Less rich, but very good. Herby, some hints of undergrowth. A little sweet though. Lighter on palate too. Seems a bit cheaper? This is nice too though. Reminiscent of some Burgundy." It is definitely easier to drink. I found the Momo too dry and green on its own yesterday.
Against coq au vin and this is too sweet and lacking some structure. The aromatics and flavour are lovely, especially when drunk on its own but its not really a food wine, at least at this stage of evolution. I didn't try the Momo with the coq au vin but think it would work much better.
This varies from cheap and sweet to complex and classic kiwi.
Great as a crowd pleasing, drink-on-its-own example of ripe Marlborough pinot.

June 18, 2013 - Not fruity, unlike Maycas' equivalent Limari. Has an austerity and tannins making it strangely French and unrelaxing. Like arriving at passport control on holiday. You are mean to be enjoying yourself, and excited, but you just aren't. It's tense. Well executed efficiency, but no charm.
Softened a lot over 3 days til it became a lot more welcoming. The wine needs decanting, it needs food, and it needs something fairly robust. Very pleasurable for a one night stand, but I am not taking this bottle's number, as sloppy seconds were a lot more fun than first night nerves. Wine buffs will sue. I'm sure it's a great wine but I couldn't get past good.
