February 13, 2020 - At CDP in Oakland with my son Dan. Decanted 4 hours. Notes similar to those from 12/11/19, with more dark fruit on the nose and the addition of some blackberry on the palate. A superb quarter century old Bordeaux.

February 7, 2020 - Truly delightful. The nose was incredibly fresh, blackberry, plum and a bit of spice. Lush full mouth feel with great flavors, dark berries, plum again and mushroom. The great thing is that this wine started with strong tannins, but today the tannins have resolved into the wine and give it depth and richness , with all of the richness of the fruit. Really a very nice wine today.

February 2, 2020 - The fill was into the neck and the cork was pristine; opened about an hour before dinner, and consumed over the course of the evening in Grassl 1855's. Deep garnet. Notes of dried plums, earth, black truffle, roasted herbs and cigar box. Medium bodied, classic in style, with great depth, good delineation, impressive grip and a long and complex finish. Quite savory on the mid-palate; went perfectly with a Tomahawk ribeye. Those with tastes for modern Bordeaux fruit bombs will not enjoy this as much as I did!

December 28, 2019 - Bell pepper, liquorice, cedar, currants. A classic nose, tannins almost resolved, decent balance, med finish. Drinking very well

December 13, 2019 - We celebrated the 1995 vintage this this Cos, a Mouton and an Insignia (in magnum).
Because of the beauty and power of the Insignia (at least for most of the magnum) and the Mouton, it is hard to remember the Cos. It was not (by an stretch of the imagination) ordinary. It was balanced, the tannins had resolved themselves, and it had a long finish. I did not notice the fruit of previous bottles - could it be that this had "shut down." We look forward to trying this vintage again.

(Cos d'Estournel) Tight....tight . . . . tight. Great nose of chestnuts, mint, blackberries, black cherries, cassis, cedar and minerals. Just a deep, foresty St. Estephe nose. Concentrated and super-ripe with sweet fruit, pretty firm tannins, and a long very nicely delineated finish. Excellent quality but still an infant. Would nice to check in again in 7 years.
