July 11, 2020 - Excellent. Improved throughout a 2-3 hour decant. Seems at peak

July 5, 2020 - Great balance and complexity. Drinking well now. Black cherry/currant, dried herbs, tobacco/cigar box, smoke, black tea, graphite, etc.

June 18, 2020 - The fill was into the neck and the cork was pristine; opened an hour before dinner (no decant) and consumed over the course of 3 hours. Deep garnet, with an extroverted and complex bouquet, offering up scents of dried plums, cassis, campfire, earth and hints of black truffle. Made in a classic / traditional style, medium bodied, great depth, focus and balance, with a long and savory finish. Drinking wonderfully at present!

June 12, 2020 - 95-96: very close to my previous note - crossing over into the ethereal range.

Really appreciate DJHammond's take on the 95 and 03 vintage - I tend to agree. The tannins are still present in a significant way on this bottle, but it has this intense spice box/violet/currant palate that will not yield.

All things considered, this bottle affirms that Cos remains one of the best values of the big-hitters on the Left Bank. Amazing.

April 22, 2020 - This is definitely starting to drink at its best, but still needs a few hours in the decanter. I think the 1995 vintage can be just as divisive as the 2003, but for totally opposing reasons. I am a passionate fan of both. The 1995 vintage will always be very masculine, and indeed very much a throwback to previous times in Bordeaux. This possesses a deep nose full of blackcurrant, plum, leather and earth with notes of raspberry. The tannin has sweetened, but is big and punchy and possibly not for more modern tastes. Secondary notes and early tertiary characteristics are present, and there is an excellent depth and balance on the palate. The finish is 30 seconds plus. It is well integrated, but with a tannic edge. There is no doubt that this is ready to go, and it is easy to mistake its tannic profile as youthfulness.

(Cos d'Estournel) Tight....tight . . . . tight. Great nose of chestnuts, mint, blackberries, black cherries, cassis, cedar and minerals. Just a deep, foresty St. Estephe nose. Concentrated and super-ripe with sweet fruit, pretty firm tannins, and a long very nicely delineated finish. Excellent quality but still an infant. Would nice to check in again in 7 years.
