August 2, 2023 - This has reached a beautiful level of maturity with a wonderful scent of Vosne spice and still fresh cherry fruit with just the right touch of sous bois. There is succulent acidity that creates a mouth-watering experience which is amazing for a 30-year old wine! The finish is layered and complex with a lovely tang of minerals, cherry liquor and Vosne floral spices. Yum and still with tons in the tank. 96+

November 20, 2022 - Tasted blind. Lots of brett as first (not offensively so) but based on the nose alone I’m guessing Northern Rhone. After a bit more time in the glass spice, dark fruited and old school in profile. Despite the brett on the nose, there’s a purity and polish to the palate. The wine has some muscle. Once it was established that we were in the 90s I guessed 93. Very youthful showing and not what we were expecting when it was revealed. A generous pull from the host but he seemed disappointed with the showing. Perhaps another decade in the cellar will sort it out.

November 11, 2022 - Totally bizarre and disappointing showing. This had extreme levels of brett off the pop that only partially faded away and integrated into the wine. Unable to get a clear read of what all is underneath. Insanely youthful, black uncompromising fruit. I am not pleased with this. The guys are guessing Northern Rhone. A fresh pour from the decanter is better, less brett, but still shockingly youthful, polished, ungiving. One would confuse this for a 15-year-old wine.

September 1, 2021 - Dark and structured but unyielding with a touch of rubber taste on the palate. Perhaps provenance issue.

August 28, 2021 - Very ripe dark cherry liqueur fruit. Big and lush but with plenty of acid. Fine, but simple and straightforward in the context of the vintage and vineyard. Hoping there wouldn't be huge separation vs. a recent '93 Jayer Cros P but alas...
